Job Title: PART-TIME, TELECOMMUTING WEB SITE DEVELOPER

Inherent, Inc. is an Internet development company that has focused primarily on the legal industry since its inception in 1993. Our executive office is located in the Embarcadero Center in San Francisco, California.

Job Description:

We are growing fast and are currently seeking a part-time, telecommuting Web developer to handle both development and maintenance work. There will be approximately 20 hours per week to start, with the potential to go to full-time as the situation evolves. Inherent will consider candidates from any location in the U.S., but requires that the developer commit at least 2 hours per day, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 - 4:00 Pacific Time hours for Inherent projects.

We need an experienced person who is able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The successful candidate should approach problems creatively and with confidence. Attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and experience meeting project schedules/deadlines are a must in order to succeed in this challenging environment.

Responsibilities will focus on the production and maintenance of traditional, database-driven Web sites as described below:

Production: After one of our graphic designers has completed the look of a new site, the developer will need to build the full site architecture and functionality. Inherent requires that all developers follow standard production methods, which will include naming schemes and general coding practices. Details will be provided.

Maintenance: The position calls for regular maintenance for clients whose sites are already in production, and making hands-on edits as needed. This will generally include adding, editing and deleting content as well as making photo adjustments and occasional site structure modifications.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience with hand-coding HTML, including deep understanding of dHTML, XHTML, CSS and how to develop W3C compliant sites
  • NO WYSIWYG coders!
  • Working knowledge of MS-SQL, ColdFusion and JavaScript is required
  • Experience with various Web development tools - such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Shockwave Director and Studio
  • Ability to deliver code with advanced functionality for various browsers with knowledge of how portable devices render code
  • Strong knowledge of SEO best-practices required
  • Must be able to track projects and keep management up to date on completion status
  • Must demonstrate sharp attention to detail

Experience:

  • Formal education a plus, but skills and experience are most important
