Unhappy with what you’re paying FindLaw, but worried about what you’d lose by leaving? Here’s exactly what switching to Inherent looks like — and why it’s less disruptive than most firms expect.
You own it. All of it.
Your website and your domain belong to your firm — outright. If you ever decide to leave Inherent, they go with you.
We handle the whole move
Domain transfer, moving your content, redirecting your old pages so you keep your search rankings, and updating your Google Business Profile and directory listings. You don’t have to manage any of the technical side.
Timed around your contract
Most switches take 2–3 months, depending on how quickly your team turns around content and approvals. We plan the launch around your current contract so you’re not paying twice.
How the switch works
- Free cost review. Tell us what you pay today and what’s included. We’ll send you a custom quote for the same services — no obligation.
- Plan around your contract. We look at when your current agreement ends and work backwards, so your new site is ready when you need it.
- Build and move. We design your new site, move your existing content — attorney bios, practice areas, blog posts — and map every old page to its new home.
- Launch. Your domain moves to your control, old URLs redirect to the new pages, and your Google Business Profile and directory listings are updated to point to your new site.
- Check everything moved over. After launch we confirm that redirects, forms and listings are all working as they should.
Common questions
Will I own my website and domain?
Yes. Your firm owns both your domain and your website outright. If you ever leave Inherent, you take them with you.
Will I lose my Google rankings?
We redirect every old page to its new address, so the links and search history you’ve built carry over to your new site. Rankings can move around for a short time after any website change, which is normal — the redirects are what protect them over the long run.
What happens to my Google reviews?
Your Google reviews belong to your Google Business Profile, not to your website, so they stay with your firm. As part of the switch we update your profile to point to your new site.
How long does it take?
Most switches take 2–3 months from signing to launch. The biggest factor is how quickly your team can review content and give approvals — we handle everything else.
What do I need to do?
Mostly review and approve. We’ll ask for things like updated attorney bios and photos, and for sign-off on the design and content. The technical work is on us.
I’m still under contract with FindLaw. Can I start now?
Yes — starting early is the best way to avoid paying for two websites. Check your agreement for its end date and for any notice you need to give before then, since some agreements renew automatically. Tell us the date and we’ll plan your launch around it.
How much does it cost?
Every firm is different, so we quote each one individually. The quickest way to find out is our free cost review: tell us what you pay now and what’s included, and we’ll show you what the same services would cost with Inherent.
